There are numerous ski slopes around Sapporo, and the city itself boasts a variety of famous places, from observation decks offering splendid views to warm indoor facilities. As well as large shopping zones and ample restaurants and bars, the city offers a wealth of artistic and cultural facilities, including galleries, parks, and museums, and the “Sapporo Snow Festival” held in Odori Park at the beginning of February every winter is a world-class spectacle. There is also a packed lineup of uniquely-winter events in January and February, including the “Otaru Snow Light Path.”
